Aspenware Welcomes Evan Altman as Chief Technology Officer
Dec 13th, 2022

Aspenware is excited to welcome Evan Altman as Chief Technology Officer. Evan comes to Aspenware from Ticketmaster where he was responsible for their highest-demand, highest-trafficked ecommerce products. His teams facilitated hundreds of millions of dollars in sales every month through queuing, real-time inventory presentation, interactive seat maps, SMS messaging, and more.

Prior to that, Evan was the co-founder and CTO of Strobe Labs, an analytics and ticketing platform for concert venues and nightclubs where he served many roles including backend developer, cloud architect, UI designer, and manager. Evan tells us, “I’m hoping to bring the best qualities of both organizations to Aspenware: the fast pace and creativity of the startup world, along with the quality, procedural discipline, and tech maturity of a big enterprise.”

Building software that is frictionless, personalized, and scalable is a challenge that’s motivated him throughout his career. He is passionate about developing technology that facilitates memorable, real-world experiences and he’s eager to apply all that he’s learned toward innovative products for Aspenware’s mountain resort clients.

“I believe technology can make skiing and mountain sports more accessible and fun, and I am confident that Aspenware’s talented team will lead our industry in innovation. Aspenware’s clients are some of the best resorts in the world, and our products help their guests spend less time on logistics and more time enjoying the outdoors.”

⛷️ First foray in ski:

Evan’s aunt took him skiing for the first time as a Bar Mitzvah present. He vividly recalls “riding the lift over picturesque, snow-covered pine trees in Breckenridge, Colorado, and breathing in the crisp mountain air on a blindingly clear day.”

After that initial experience, he went skiing almost every year at Saskadena Six near Woodstock, Vermont. Evan and his dad would drive up to ski with family friends and they would all compete for the most runs in a day.

His best day skiing, however, was in Nagano, Japan. Evan studied Japanese for six years – starting classes in high school and then college and visited Japan during the summer for a study-abroad program. When he returned one winter with his family, they spent part of their trip in Nagano, where he skied and saw the snow monkeys bathing in hot springs.

💖 Favorite outdoor activities:

Skiing and hiking are Evan’s favorite ways to spend time outdoors.

🏠 Home base:

Evan lives in Providence, RI.

😊Fun Facts:

Evan loves to bake bread! Some of his favorite breads to make are focaccia, ciabatta, braided challah, chocolate babka, and pita bread.

Fostering a fun, collaborative development culture at work is a priority for Evan, and he makes sure the workspace has the best custom emojis available! In a previous role, Evan designed and uploaded more custom emojis than almost anyone at the company. Because of his frequent involvement in the company’s incident response program – triaging critical issues – a colleague of his made one of Evan’s favorite emojis, the “incident-commander-evan”!
