Affirm and Aspenware Deliver a More Flexible Way to Pay at Mountain Resorts

Aspenware resorts can now offer their guests the option to pay in monthly payments, with no hidden or late fees
SAN FRANCISCO and DENVER – May 6, 2021 – Affirm, the payment network that empowers consumers and helps merchants drive growth, today announced it’s partnering with Aspenware, a leading ecommerce and guest experience platform for mountain resorts. Now, Aspenware’s customers can seamlessly offer their guests the ability to pay over time for everything from ski passes to gear rentals and lessons.
Mountain resorts utilizing Aspenware for their e-commerce solution can now offer Affirm at checkout, giving approved consumers the option to split the total cost of purchases into monthly or biweekly payments. Affirm helps consumers take control of their finances, as they are shown the total cost of their purchase up front and Affirm never charges any late or hidden fees, empowering them to ski that extra day on the mountain or upgrade their rentals.
“Aspenware is proud to partner with Affirm to deliver flexible payment options to our ski area and mountain destination partners,” said Rob Clark, Chief Executive Officer at Aspenware. “The modern skier has an expectation for an easy booking experience and flexibility in their payment terms. Not only can destinations expect an increase in average order value from implementing Affirm, they will also benefit from offering monthly payments without the overhead of managing the payment terms themselves. Affirm offers the flexibility that skiers demand and the capabilities that operators require.”
“A ski vacation can be the highlight of a family’s year, and we’re seeing consumers increasingly eager to pay over time when booking a trip to the mountains,” said Sara Wyman, VP of Strategic Partnerships at Affirm. “Aspenware gives resorts powerful tools to manage their ecommerce offerings and to modernize their guest experience. Through our partnership we are making it easier to deliver a flexible and transparent payment option without penalties so resorts can attract more guests and increase conversion across their purchases.”
Affirm is now available for any ski area or mountain resort using Aspenware Commerce. Windham Mountain in New York is one of the first resorts to give their guests the ability to pay through Affirm, making a ski trip to the Catskills accessible to more people.
“We are excited to partner with Affirm and Aspenware to bring this new technology offering to our customers,” said Ian Peters, Director of Technology at Windham Mountain. “It has helped us simplify our payment plan processing while offering customer friendly options. We look forward to growing our business by leveraging Affirm.”
Affirm partners with more than 7,900 top merchants in the U.S., including Delta Vacations, Expedia, IKON Pass, Beech Mountain Resort, Valdez Heli-Ski Guides, Vacasa, Vrbo and more. Offering Affirm at checkout can drive overall sales, increase average order value, and increase customer repurchase rates. In 2019, merchants using Affirm reported 85% higher average order values when compared to other payment methods, and in 2020 nearly 67% of purchases were from repeat Affirm users.
Affirm’s mission is to deliver honest financial products that improve lives. By building a new kind of payment network — one based on trust, transparency and putting people first — we empower millions of consumers to spend and save responsibly, and give thousands of businesses the tools to fuel growth. Unlike credit cards and other pay-over-time options, we show consumers exactly what they will pay up front, never increase that amount, and never charge any late or hidden fees.
